The Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society, is once again on the lookout for photographers to submit their favourite images honouring Britain’s proud maritime heritage, for its annual competition searching for the UK’s ultimate sea view.
Launched to mark national Seafarers Awareness Week (23rd-30th June), the Society’s Maritime Photographic Competition, sponsored by the Fishmongers’ Company and supported by Nautilus International, encourages photographers, both amateur and professional, to enter pictures that capture the essence of Britain’s enduring connection with the sea – its merchant ships, fishermen, coast, harbours and ports.
Celebrating its 179th year, the Society is searching for standout images relating to all aspects of the UK’s historic relationship with the sea, including ships and wrecks, seascapes, industry and leisure. Photographs should be submitted via the form at the bottom of this page before the deadline on Monday 13th August. Photographers can also enter their pictures via email, post or the Society’s social media channels, using the hashtag #UltimateSeaView. The winning entrant will receive a £500 voucher for photographic equipment.
The Fishmongers’ Company is one of the Twelve Great Livery Companies of the City of London, and among the most ancient of the City Guilds. For over 700 years, as well as fostering the fellowship among our members, it has upheld standards in the trading of fish and shellfish and supported the fisheries industry – roles it still plays today.
