Sami’s London Marathon Challenge

The Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society’s Grants Manager, Samantha (Sami) Raeburn, is preparing for a big challenge in 2018 as she trains to take part in the London Marathon on 22 April.

Sami, who has been working with the charity for more than two years, will be running on behalf of the Society when the race gets underway in the spring.

Make sure you keep an eye out here and on our social media channels for updates from Sami’s challenge over the coming months. To support Sami on her challenge with a donation small or large, go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/s-raeburn.

Update – 5 February 2018

Well I’m now one month in to my training. It’s mainly been a cold, wet and windy affair but progress is being made. It’s amazing what you can make your body do. Please give as much as you can to this amazing and extremely worthwhile cause. Spur me on for those dark evening runs.

Update – 24 April 2018

Congratulations Sami! Under very testing conditions, Sami completed the hottest London Marathon on record in an impressive 5:12:16, raising more than £1,400 for the charity. Thank you to everyone who supported Sami along the way and to Sami for such a great effort!
