Support For Seafarers Charity

Support Us

Each year, the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society delivers much-needed financial support to thousands of former seafarers and their dependants.

A total of £1.4 million in grants was paid out in 2016-17 alone. We know our beneficiaries spend a disproportionate amount of their low incomes on food, heating and lighting compared with other groups in society. Without our grants, many would have to choose between eating and heating their homes.

We rely on your donations and support to ensure our work continues to be fit for purpose.

There are many ways you can help us to provide this lifeline to seafarers and their families in need:

Donate

We are grateful for any contributions, large or small. Whether you would like to make a one-off or regular donation, or even raise money for Shipwrecked by selling items on eBay, making a donation couldn’t be simpler.

Become a volunteer

Our work is varied and intensive. As well as giving financial aid, we deal with hundreds of new applications for assistance each year and keep in regular contact with current beneficiaries to ensure our help matches their circumstances.

This is all handled by a small staff at our Central Office and supported by a network of volunteers known as Honorary Agents, who are essential to our work. Check out the volunteer page for live opportunities around the UK.
