SS Djambi (1919-1943)
The Dutch cargo ship, SS Djambi, collided with Silverbeech, a British cargo ship, whilst on route from Liverpool to Beira on 13 March, 1943.
This resulted in the ship being wrecked at sea. The Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society was able to provide 17 of the survivors with £122/8s worth of financial support – the equivalent of more than £5,144 in today’s money.
