Sam’s Ultramarathon Fundraising Success
Many congratulations to Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society’s Grants Officer, Sam Shrives, who successfully completed the Combat Stress Race to Remember 77km ultramarathon last weekend. Not only is that a remarkable achievement in itself, but he also finished in 2nd place!
Well-done Sam – you’re an inspiration, and through all the day’s pain and suffering you’ve exceeded your target and raised a fantastic £1,282.50 (including Gift Aid) for the Society. When asked how he managed to keep going, Sam told us ‘It’s amazing how far your body will take you if you grit your teeth and only look 50 feet ahead’.
We understand Sam is now looking at a 100-mile challenge for 2023 so watch this space!
