Maritime Systems supports Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society
Maritime Systems welcomes new year with donation of £1,500 to the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society
From 2022, the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) requires all English registered fishing vessels under 12 metres to fitted with an approved I-VMS (Inshore Vessel Monitoring System).
As one of the approved suppliers of I-VMS, Maritime Systems is showing its commitment to the fishing industry by donating to the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society for every subscription to its service. To welcome in the new year, they have made their first donation of £1,500 to the society, reflecting the fishermen who joined them in December.
The Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society provides financial help to fishers, mariners and their dependants who are in need, and also offer special grants to meet particular needs in crisis situations. Maritime Systems are committed to continuing their support of this important charity and will continue to make donations with every subscription.
To further aid their subscribers, Maritime Systems are offering a Grant Submission scheme. The in-house agent will complete and submit the paperwork for the fishermen with payment direct to their account. There are many grants available for the fishing industry covering items such as vessel improvements, navigation systems and deck hardware.
The cost of Maritime Systems’ I-VMS is fully covered by an MMO grant that they will apply for on the fisherman’s behalf, and they are the only supplier to include free installation, free local support and a 5-year warranty.
James Glover, Managing Director of Maritime Systems commented, “Inshore Fishermen are an under supported group who provide a valued commodity to the British public. Often operating as a one-man outfit, they do not have the resource to apply for MMO grants and are missing out on many funding opportunities enjoyed by the larger fishing operators. I am hoping that we can make a valuable difference to the under 12 metres community with the Grant Submission scheme available to our subscribers.”
Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society Chief Executive, Capt. Justin Osmond RN, said: “we are delighted and very grateful to receive donations from Maritime Systems to assist our vital work supporting those from the fishing community who are suffering financial hardship and distress.”
