SS Ger-y-Bryn (1941-1943)
The SS Ger-y-Bryn was a British cargo steamer of 5,108 tons, which, whilst on route from Lagos and Gibraltar for Hull, was torpedoed by German submarine U-130 and wrecked at sea on 6 March, 1943.
When the survivors arrived back in the UK, the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society provided 47 of them with £259/17s worth of financial support, which is the equivalent of more than £10,900 in today’s money.
