SS Allie (1899 – 1917)
The merchant British steamer SS Allie was built in 1899 by Harkess W. & Sons Ltd., Middlesbrough.
When on a voyage from Swansea to Bordeaux with a cargo of copper sulphate, Allie was sunk by an explosion ten miles NW of Bouée Baleines by a German U-boat captained by Heinrich Küstner. Luckily, there were no casualties.
