On 2 January 1918, the cargo vessel of 2,711 tonnes was travelling on a voyage from Bristol to New York with general cargo when she was torpedoed without warning by a German U-boat under the command of Alfred von Glasenapp and sank 11 miles W1/2N of St Ann’s Head.
Thankfully, there were no casualties.
