SS Tritonia (1905-1917)
Built in Greenock by Scott Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. in 1905, Tritonia was a British steamer ship of 4,445 gross tonnes. At the time of her loss, she was owned by the Donaldson Line, Glasgow.
On 27 February 1917, whilst on a voyage from John & Halifax to Glasgow, with a general cargo and horses, Tritonia was torpedoed by a German U-boat under the command of Richard Hartmann.
She was sunk 20 miles NW of Tearaght Island, Ireland. Sadly, two people lost their lives.
