SS Princess Alberta (1905-1917)
British passenger and cargo ship SS Princess Alberta was built in 1905 by Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd., Dundee. At the time of her loss, she was owned by Langlands M. & Sons, Liverpool.
On 21 February 1917, Princess Alberta struck a mine laid by a German U-boat under the command of Johannes Kirchner while on a voyage from Stavros to Mudros. The 1,586 tonne ship sank in Mudros Bay, part of the Aegean Sea. Sadly, 33 people on board lost their lives.
