SS Tremeadow (1905 – 1917)
British merchant steamer, SS Tremeadow, was built in 1905 by J. Readhead & Sons Ltd., South Shields. She was owned by Hain Steamship Co. Ltd. at the time of her loss.
On 19 January 1917, whilst en route from Buenos Aires to Hull with a cargo of maize, Tremeadow was shelled and sunk by a German U-boat, captained by Reinhold Saltzwedel. She went down 35 miles NE of Ushant. Thankfully, there were no casualties.
