SS Empire Trader (1908-1943)
The SS Empire Trader was a British passenger ship of 9,990 tons, which was torpedoed by U-92 north of the Azores and wrecked in the North Atlantic on 21 February, 1943.
When the survivors arrived back in the UK, the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society provided seven of them with £56/11s worth of financial support, which is the equivalent of more than £3,500 in today’s money.
