SS Moyune (1895-1918)

British cargo vessel, SS Moyune, was built by D. & W. Henderson & Co., Glasgow in 1895 and owned at the time of her loss by China Mutual Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., London. She was a steamer of 4,935 tonnes.

On 12 April 1918, the Moyune was travelling on a voyage from Karachi to Liverpool with a cargo of maize when she was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat under the command of Johannes Klasing. At the time of the attack, the steamer was located 32 miles SExE of Cape de Palos.

Thankfully, there were no casualties.
