SS Brookwood (1904 – 1917)

SS Brookwood, a merchant British steamer, was built in 1904 by Ropner & Son, Stockton-on-Tees. At the time of her loss, she was owned by Constantine Joseph.

When on a voyage from Penarth to Port Said with a cargo of coal, Brookwood was sunk by gunfire having been targeted by the German submarine U-79, captained by Heinrich Jeß. Two people were killed in the wreck, 210 miles NW of Cape Finisterre.
