A Lincolnshire Mine finds a new home on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne

The Society is extremely grateful to Tenby Honorary Agent, Richard Sadler, who went above and beyond to recently arrange transport and siting of a replacement large collecting mine on Holy Island, Northumberland.

After the previous long serving mine needed to be scrapped due to the ravages of time and the weather, we coincidentally were contacted by Chris Burnett, our Chapel St Leonard’s, Lincolnshire, HA, who had looked after a large mine for 20-years which he latterly kept on his land. As he was selling his property, he needed to have the mine removed and, thanks to significant efforts by Richard, who has family connections in Northumberland, and who arranged a HIAB loader crane lorry to uplift, transport and re-site the mine in its ideal position, the Society will have a presence on Holy Island for many years to come.  On reporting the successful transfer Richard said that all had gone well but he hadn’t planned on having to dig a 2-foot hole for a concrete base at 6.45am! You’re a star, Richard – thank you.
