Chief Executive, Malcolm Williams, writes in The Daily Telegraph today:
SIR: “I hope that every Council in the land will be flying the Red Ensign today, to commemorate and celebrate Merchant Navy Day. In times of war, the Merchant Navy has ensured our survival at a heavy cost – 46,000 men lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars. Today, in peace, it continues to supply our needs: 95 per cent of our imports come by sea”
