On This Day (1st May) – WW2 Shipwreckollections

SS Port Victor (1942 – 1943) At 00.30 hours on 1 May 1943, U-107 fired a spread of two stern torpedoes at the unescorted SS Port Victor, northeast of the Azores, which was zigzagging directly into a good firing position at about 1000 meters distance.

Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society Helped in Over 2252 Cases of Need (27/04/15)

The Shipwrecked Mariners provided financial support to Fishermen, Mariners and their dependants in over 2,252 cases during the last year at a cost of £1.4 Million.

The SS Pan Pennsylvania (1943-1944) On the 24th April 1944, the American Tanker Pan Pennsylvania had been en route to Britain when it was struck with a missile from U-550.

The SS Empire Howard (1941-1942) On the 16th of April 1942, the SS Empire Howard was part of a convoy delivering supplies to the Soviet Union to aid them against Nazi Germany on the Eastern Front.

The SS Waroonga (1914-1943) The SS Waroonga was travelling to England from Halifax as part of convoy HX-231 when in the late evening of the 8th of April, U-635 torpedoed both the SS Waroonga and the SS Shillong. Both ships were able to continue until another U-Boat, U-630, fired again at each vessel.

On This Day (18th March) – WW2 Shipwreckollections

The SS Nariva (1920-1943) and the SS Southern Princess (1915-1943) The SS Nariva and the SS Southern Princess were in the middle of convoy HX-229 travelling from New York to Liverpool when attacked by two German U-Boats, U-91 and U-600 on 18 March 1943.

On This Day (13th March) – WW2 Shipwreckollections

The SS Guido (1920-1943) In March 1943, the SS Guido was hunted by a wolf pack of German U-Boats 10 miles starboard as it was going from New York to Greenock. The fatal torpedo was fired from U-633 on the 8th of March.
