SS Trocas (1893-1918)
SS Trocas was a British steam tanker of 4,129 tonnes that was built in 1893 by Laing James & Sons Ltd., Sunderland. In 1918, at the time of her loss during WW1, the Trocas was owned by the Flower Motor Ship Co. Ltd., London.
On 19 January 1918, the Trocas was travelling on a voyage from Abadan to Salonica with a cargo of oil when she was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat under the command of Hans Georg Lubbe. At the time of the attack, the British tanker was located 10 miles NE of Skyros Lighthouse in the Aegean Sea.
Sadly, 24 people lost their lives.
